The Grande Dixence Dam

An essential and unmissable historical monument to be visited in the Valais, the Grand Dixence dam is the highest gravity dam in the world.

Commissioned in 1961, the Grande Dixence dam, with its 15 tonnes and 285 metres in height, is the largest dam in Europe. It is located in the heart of the Alps in the Val des Dix.
A cable car takes you from the car park to the top of the wall. For the more motivated the climb can also be done on foot.
On site visitors can find several fun and cultural activities :

- A zipline along the wall
- Guided visits within the dam wall
- A museum illustrating the dam's history
