The Pro Arte Choir brings together men and women singers from central Valais, who enjoy all styles of choir singing : a capella, accompanied by an orchestra or piano depending on the répertoire chosen.
Oscar Lagger founded the choir in 1971and directed it for over twenty years. Norbert Carlen took over from him in 1997 after a short transition in the hands of Nicolas Waldvogel. Since 2019, the Direction of the choir has been taken over by Marie-Marthe Claivaz.
Consistency of effort and the pleasure of singing are the secret of its longevity and its various engagements. Indeed, it has enabled the realization of ambitious projects such as Brahms' "German Requiem", Requiems by Mozart, Duruflé, Verdi, Gossec and Dvoràk, Passions by Bach and Telemann, as well as several Masses, Oratorios and scenic works by composers of all eras.
