The departure of the itinerary is located at the arrival of Veysonnaz gondola. The path leads off to the right of the restaurant La Combyre on the Cheminée ski slope. The very steep ascent quickly leads to a 300-metre difference in altitude. From the Crêtes de Thyon, the path follows the ridges uphill and downhill. You first climb Mont-Carré at 2460 metres before arriving at Mont-Rouge at 2490 metres. Throughout the hike, a breathtaking view is offered to you, with the Rhone Valley and the Bernese Alps on one side and the Val d'Hérens on the other.
You begin your return to Thyon with the rather steep descent of Mont-Rouge. The restaurant Les Chottes, a beautifully renovated former cow shed, invites you to a well-deserved break on its terrace before joining the Bisse de Chervé which leads you back to Thyon.
