Snowshoe hike Thyon - Veysonnaz
Snow shoe hiking
Snowshoe hiking is a unique and enjoyable way to get from Thyon to Veysonnaz without having to ski/snowboard or take a gondola. This downhill itinerary takes you through a magnificent mid-mountain setting with panoramic views over the Bernese Alps.
- Picnic area available
- Accessible by public transport
- Panorama / belvedere
At the arrival of the Veysonnaz and Ours gondolas, a lift takes you directly down to the top of the Inalpe lift and thus avoids the stream of skiers. You can find the path just below on the left. The l'Inalpe and Les Drus lifts still have to be crossed. At the crossroads with the Chemin des Chottes, follow the Zeu itinerary which continues its descent along the Drus piste, in the powder snow.
The path then enters the Forêt Noire downhill, then a long, peaceful, flat stretch leads back to the Piste des Mayens. At this point, leave the Zeu itinerary and continue downhill, first along the piste, then through the Mayens du Sommet, towards the restaurant La Remointze.
At the restaurant La Remointze, you can join the Forêt de l'Ours snowshoe itinerary and follow it downhill through the snowy sun drenched pastures. The old scorched chalets rest lazily while waiting for spring, which arrives very quickly on this slope.
Finally, the hike joins the Magrappé itinerary on the chemin de Fevouet leading to the tennis courts.
To return to the gondola departure station, remove your snowshoes and follow the route des tennis. The last few metres along the Bisse de Vex and its enchanting forest setting bring you back to your starting point.
Be careful when crossing the ski slopes.
